A couple of weeks ago I had a cake order for a two tiered cake with skulls & roses using purple, black & silver… and they wanted to use a large [very glittery] skull with eyes that lit up that they already had to top the cake. It sounded like an extremely fun cake, even more fun when I learned that the birthday girl was turning 50.
This is what I came up with:
I used a few different mediums on the cake.
This year was my first year submitting a cake entry to the Orange County Fair. I had no idea what to expect, I’ve never decorated a “dummy” cake before… I’ve never had anyone “judge” my cakes before… So many things ran through my head, most of it was nerves but I set a goal to enter a cake so I did.
I got 3rd place! I cannot believe it! Especially after everything the cake and I went through….
Sadly I do not have pictures of this cake cut open, I only have pictures of it covered in fondant. But I had many complements and requests for this recipe at the birthday party so I am sharing them with you today.
This cake was a Chocolate Stout Cake, filled with Chocolate Coffee Ganache and topped with Chocolate Buttercream.
I’ve only recently discovered blogging, honestly its too bad I didn’t have one of these back when I was running my cake business [on the side]. I still make cakes, just not as often as I used to…
Today I’m sharing with you some of my favorite cakes that I’ve made over the years.
