DIY Knitted Toddler Headband/Earwarmer

I just love the winter time, I always find myself knitting with most of my free time and now I have a super girly toddler to make things for. Getting her to keep her accessories on is a little bit of a challenge (especially with headbands) but she looks just so darn cute!

I’ve made her three different ones, today I’m sharing the “Seed” Stitch one.

Materials

*Your favorite color yarn

* size 7 knitting needles

* size F crochet hook

*Needle, thread & button (about 1″)

 

Pattern:

Cast on 5 stitches

Rows 1-8 work in K1, P1

Row 9 K1, P1, K1 & P1 (same stitch), P1, K1 (6 total stitches)

Row 10 K1, P1, K2, P1, K1

Row 11 K1, P1, K1, M1B, K1, P1, K1 (7 total)

Row 12-14 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1,P1,K1

Row 15 K1, P1, K1,  P1 & K1 (same stitch),K1, P1, K1 (8 total)

Row 16 K1, P1, K1, P2, K1, P1, K1

Row 17 K1, P1, K1, P1, M1F, P1, K1, P1, K1 (9 total)

Row 18-22 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1

Row 23 K1, P1, K1,  P1, K1 & P1(same stitch), P1, K1, P1, K1 (10 total)

Row 24  K1, P1, K1, P1, K2, P1, K1, P1, K1

Row 25 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, M1B, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1 (11 total)

Row 26-28 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1

Row 29 K1, P1, K1,  P1, K1, P1 & K1 (same stitch), K1, P1, K1, P1, K1 (12 total)

Row 30  K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P2, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1

Row 31 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, M1F, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1 (13 total)

Row 32 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1

Repeat Row 32 until headband is about 10 inches (toddler size) If you’d like this for an adult just  repeat row until the headband is about 12-13 inches.

Now you’ll work in decrease

Row 1 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P3TOG, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1 (11 total)

Row 2-6 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1

Row 7 K1, P1, K1, P1, K3TOG, P1, K1, P1, K1 (9 total)

Row 8-12 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1

Row 13 K1, P1, K1, P3TOG, K1, P1, K1 (7 total)

Row 14-18 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1

Row 19 K1, P1, K3TOG, P1, K1 (5 total)

Row 20-27 K1, P1, K1, P1, K1

Bind off. Leave last stitch and transfer to crochet hook, chain 10 stitches attach to other ride of the row and bind off completely.

With needle and thread sew button to beginning end of headband (increasing side)
